Supplying the Forestry Commission with Tablets to facilitate field data capture and reporting for the Ghana Wood Tracking – Decision Support System (GWT-DSS) – Republic of Ghana
Description
Ghana began FLEGT Licensing on 8 October 2025as part of its FLEGT VPA process, supported by a joint work plan between the Forestry Commission (FC) and the UK’s FGMC programme, with technical assistance from EFI’s EFITAP project. Central to this effort is the Ghana Wood Tracking – Decision Support System (GWT-DSS), which verifies the legality of timber by tracking products from their origin to export. However, much of the existing IT equipment is outdated and requires replacement to ensure accurate, timely data capture and transmission, and to enable the system’s technological upgrade. The new equipment will strengthen the operational capacity of FC staff
across the Forest Services Division, the Timber Industry Development Division, and the Timber Validation Department. This procurement seeks to select a service provider to supply the essential IT equipment (tablets) needed to maintain and improve the functioning of the GWT-DSS.
