Description

About 10% of coffee production in Ethiopia is estimated to originate from picking in natural forests where coffee naturally grows, without any agricultural management practice. Forest coffee and Participatory Forest Management (PFM) are intrinsically linked because the latter are governance arrangements that contribute to the preservation of the forest where coffee naturally grows. The objective of the tender is to use the EUDR as a lever to promote Ethiopian forest coffee and enhance its market value, in a way that benefits all members of PFM communities while contributing to more effective forest conservation. The tender aims to test approaches and solutions to make forest coffee traceable and more valuable and improve the governance of forest coffee cooperatives in a pilot setting. The project is expected to commence in October 2025 with a duration of 18 months.
